Standing With Families: Our Partnership With the Hero Hunter Foundation

The Hero Hunter Foundation is a not‑for‑profit organisation providing practical, hands‑on support to families whose child is undergoing oncology treatment or facing certain blood disorders. Their work is grounded in compassion, understanding, and lived experience — because HHF was created in honour of a brave little boy named Hunter Leigh Madden.

Hunter was just three years old when he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Over five years, he endured gruelling treatment, three relapses, and countless challenges no child should ever face. In September 2021, at only eight years old, Hunter passed away — leaving behind a legacy of courage, love, and community spirit.

While Hunter’s story ended in heartbreak, his family recognised something powerful: throughout their long and difficult journey, they had a village behind them. Not every family does. And so, the Hero Hunter Foundation was born — to be that village for others. Their vision is simple but profound: to ensure every Australian family facing childhood cancer feels supported, held, and never alone.

At Rockingham Mazda, we are proud to play a small part in helping HHF continue this mission. Each year, we contribute raffle prizes to support their annual Hero Hunter Day — a statewide celebration of Hunter’s life and a major fundraiser for the foundation. This year, we’re taking our involvement even further. Alongside donating raffle prizes, our entire dealership team will be participating in Hero Hunter Day by wearing green for a gold coin donation and firing up a sausage sizzle to raise additional funds.

Hero Hunter Day is officially held on 1 April, Hunter’s birthday, but businesses, clubs, schools, and community groups are encouraged to participate on any day that suits them. It’s a simple, meaningful way to show support — and every contribution helps HHF continue providing vital services to families who need it most.
